I had no problem's posting my first contribution, but now am lost.
I clicked on "blog it" and seem to have posted this silly thing by mistake.

Which "home page" do you mean. I may be only getting in via the back door and missing something.
I see that I have the opportunity to delete any "comments" but I don't see how to edit or delete posts already published.
Maybe only the blog-owners can do that.

Instead of starting from the blog itself -- one should start from
http://www.blogger.com
then sign in.
After that is should become clearer.
